FIRST TIME SAILING EXPERIENCE| CANCUN, MEXICO
When I traveled to Cancun, I really wanted to have brand new experiences and for some reason, sailing came to mind. I thought Cancun would be the perfect scenery for sailing, so I was very excited to join Cancun Sailing for a premium sailing experience to Isla Mujeres. I arrived at Marina Chac Chi in the hotel zone and was ready to get on board the catamaran. The premium experience is great because there will only be twenty five people or less on board compared to other experiences that might be very crowded. If you want to have more personal space and a peaceful journey, then the premium experience is the way to go!
The premium tour also includes an open bar with soft drinks, water, juice, rum, vodka, tequila, beer, and lunch buffet. My personal favorite being the early morning mimosas. You will have a couple of hours until you reach Isla Mujeres which gives you time to soak in the incredible scenery. There is also an opportunity to go snorkeling (if weather permits) and equipment is provided. Snorkeling was another first time experience for me, so I absolutely participated! En route to Isla Mujeres, we made a stop to test out the waters and I’m glad I gave it a go and jumped in, although, I definitely need a few more practice sessions.
After a couple of hours, there is a two hour midday break at Isla Mujeres. In Isla, you can sample tequila, shop souvenirs, or walk along the beach. I think two hours was enough time to explore being that Isla is a small island. After departing from Isla Mujeres, we arrived at the Ice Box for a lunch buffet late afternoon. The lunch break was a bit long for me as I prefer to be on the water, so consider it a downtime in the day. Thereafter, you have an extra hour or so to enjoy the view once more before heading back to Cancun.
Overall, it was a beautiful experience sailing in the ocean as opposed to simply watching the ocean from ashore. The waves during my experience were calm and peaceful. Sailing on the catamaran was a great experience and I will definitely keep it in memory. On board, there are many photo opportunities once you set sail and you even have the option to purchase photos as a souvenir of the experience. I would one hundred percent do this experience again.
