MARRIOTT MARQUIS QUEEN’S PARK – BANGKOK, THAILAND

HOTEL PROFILE

The newly opened Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park Bangkok was such treasure to explore with over 1,300 rooms and suites available and located nearby Phrom Phong BTS Skytrain and The Emporium Mall.  Hence, why I remained within the hotel for the weekend never feeling the need to return to the city streets of Bangkok. There were multiple restaurants to check out and that kept me on the move and occupied all weekend long. I highly recommend to visit the lobby lounge for afternoon tea because it is absolutely incredible. The pastry chef turned out some fantastic treats like macaroons and eclairs.

This time I went on a tour of the premise from the grand ballroom style lobby to the chic designed meeting/conference rooms. The Marquis caters to an array of events from private weddings to corporate meetings as well. I was most happy to check into my Deluxe (King Bed) room and spend time in between restaurant visits relaxing in this bright space. I liked the interior colors of silver gray and white because it makes the natural light shine rather than dark shades.

 RESTAURANT OFFERINGS

Apart from taking power naps in my room, I had to gear up for the many restaurants the Marriott Marquis has to offer from local Thai cuisine to Chinese (Pagoda), and Japanese (Soba Factory). I must not forget the fantastic buffet breakfast and lunch offering at Goji. Goji restaurant was my best experience due to the variety of dishes available. I was pleased to see pasta on the menu for a change and the dessert bar is endless considering I was too full to sample it all! I also was fond of the made to order omelettes and the goji berry smoothie with an assortment of milks to choose from (hence the name Goji).

GOJI KITCHEN: (see photos above): A multi-national themed restaurant that transitions from offering breakfast to lunch buffet with a spectacular dessert bar. Serving both Western and Asian cuisines presented with a number of live cooking stations.

THE LOBBY LOUNGE: Set in an amazing, classy lounge offering modern cocktails and afternoon tea sets, that are simply scrumptious. (Western Tea Set- see above)

SIAM TEA ROOM: Excellent authentic Thai cuisine and interior design if you are in search of a cultural food experience. I enjoyed the yellow crab curry I had packed with powerful Thai flavors. As you enter, there is also a mouth-watering bakery and assortment of Thai candy to choose from and make great desserts as well.

PAGODA: Contemporary Cantonese Cuisine serving traditional dishes inclusive of dim sum, dumplings, and spring rolls. The interior is impressive and truly transports you to China with plush seating and wood accents to match classic design.

SOBA FACTORY: If you fancy soba noodles and Japanese food in general, this is the place to be. The soba noodles recipe received high honors in Japan and are made with buckwheat. The mojito on menu is a great combination with soba noodles and duck.

QUAN SPA

My visit to Quan Spa was refreshing considering I already had passed a long week in Bangkok and I was in need of relaxation. I decided to go with the Pollution Facial to cleanse my skin from the city exposure. I enjoyed the facial thoroughly and each application lasted about 10 mins using a balance of cooling and heated masks. Of course, massages are also available here and is advisable to book evenings if you want to wind down before bed.

The Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park was a wonderful experience and I was more than impressed with the restaurant selection and room offerings. By 2018, this location will be introducing many updates to the property including the launch of a rooftop bar. I look forward to visit in 2018 to once again experience a restful and flavorful experience all inside the Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park in Bangkok.
